b.1/29/25 d.4/20/44 CHS ‘42 John lived at 54 Hawthorne Avenue. He entered the Army Air Corps in April, 1943, at the age of eighteen and was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland for basic training. He later served at Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma City prior to going overseas. On April 20, 1944, he was listed as “missing in action.” He was officially declared dead on May 15th, 1944. At the rank of corporal, he was on board the USS Paul Hamilton Troop Transport Ship with the 32nd Recon Squadron. His ship was sunk off the coast of North Africa. He was 19 years old.
